How to root Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 and install CWM recovery

   Samsung  Grand Duos is a dual core 1.2 Ghz dual sim capable smartphone making a high impact in smartphone market. Though it appears to be the same as couple of other Samsung devices like Note II, S3 etc Grand does not contains all the features of its big brothers.

    As already known to upgrade your device to custom ROMs and apply the available tweaks you need to have root access.

To Get started with rooting your device follow the steps below.

	Recovery

1. Extract the package on your desktop, you will get the files namely Update- SuperSU.zip, odin.zip
2. Once you have all these files on your computer you need Samsung USB Drivers, and USB data cable for connecting your device to computer.
3. If you cant find Samsung USB driver install them using kies or download here.
4. Once you have Samsung driver installed on your computer, Go to the settings menu on your device and then to developer options and then check enable USB debugging.
5. Now Copy the file Update-Superuser.zip to your devices SD-Card.
6. Switch off the phone. Now get your device in downloading mode using following key combination     press Volume Down + Home+ Power On keys simultaneously.
7. You should see following screen.

9. Press Volume Up key to continue booting into downloading mode
10. Once you have booted in downloading mode open the Odin.exe and connect the phone to USB cable.The COM port in ODIN should be turned yellow as shown in below screenshot.

12. The yellow color indicates that your device is identified and connected.
13. Now make sure that F. Reset Time is checked, Auto Reboot is checked PDA is ticked.All other boxes should be unchecked.
14. Now click the PDA button and browse for the file recovery.tar you will find this file in Rooting package (Recovery) you extracted above.
15. Click on start. Let ODIN complete the flashing process. Don't interrupt the process. A green bar will tell you the progress of the operation. When the green box in Odin window shows "Pass", your phone will start a reboot.
16. Once your phone is rebooted turn it off again and boot into recovery mode using key combination Volume Up+ Home+ Power On .
17. Now you should be into CWM recovery mode now to root your phone select install zip from Sd card-> Choose zip from SD card.
    
    Now locate the supersu.zip file you earlier stored on your SDCard and select install.
    Once the zip is completely installed select option reboot the device, and check for the SuperSU app on your device once its booted up, you can also check the root access using the root checker application from play store
    
    
    Note:- You will observe a yellow triangle while rebooting your device,
               this is the result of rooting and upgrading to custom kernel,
               there is a count(custom binary count) which increases after every binary download you do on your device

How to get permanent CWM recovery for Galaxy S Duos GT - S7652

        CWM (clockwordmod)  recovery is a custom recovery which enables you to do a lot of tasks that are not available with stock recovery. These options include mounting/unmounting  system,data,cache, USB storage. Taking nandroid backup of your current existing system, restoring a previously taken backup,and lots more.
        One more important thing I would like you to note is if you are looking for a custom ROM to be get installed on your android device you must have CWM first.
         Now get your S duos CWM file from this rooting kit refer to this link for rooting your S Duos and follow the procedure mentioned there for first installing the recovery on your S duos. If you have gone through the link mentioned above you will come to know that the CWM recovery you installed is temporary and to make it permanent Follow the below procedure.

Note: - Below steps are given assuming user has already rooted the device

1. The reason you will lost the CWM recovery after reboot is that, when system reboots it will overwrite the CWM recovery file with stock recovery 
2. Now if you want the CWM recovery permanent for your device you have to stop this overwriting.
3. For this go to location /etc through any Root Browser and locate install-recovery.sh file there rename it to install-recovery.sh.bak
4. once this is done now repeat the steps 4-16 mentioned in this link
5. Now you dont need to remove battery.

How to install custom recovery (CWM) on your device

               

Custom recovery is a enhanced mode of stock recovery which will make you able to perform the tasks which are not possible through stock recovery like installing the zip files, taking nandroid back ups, mounting unmounting the data/system/cache/USB storage
            To get the CWM recovery for your android device check out this link get the 
zip file for your device and store it on your sdcard and follow the steps below

1. Once you have the CWM recovery for your device stored on your SD card switch off your phone and reboot into recovery mode.
2. To get your phone in recovery mode use the key combination (Power+ Home+ Volume Rocker)
3. In recovery mode select the option install zip from sdcard and browse for the zip file using volume rocker and select the file using home key.
4. Once the installation is complete, select the option reboot system and reboot the device
5. Now you have changed the stock recovery to CWM recovery.

Upgrading Samsung Galaxy S Duos to Kyle Open Rom.V3.0.4

                Many people around the globe reported lots of issues related to SGSD, such as

shagginess, out of memory, battery draining and many more. As we know the better option to solve all these problems at one go is to upgrade to any available custom ROM 

and for Samsung Galaxy S duos fortunately and unfortunately there is only One custom ROM

available which supports full dual SIM functionality.The ROM is Kyle Open Rom

            There is no Cynogenmod Rom available for SGSD yet. Don't be get fooled by other posts claiming the CM 9 or CM 10 Jeally bean update for SGSD.

Follow the below instructions to install this ROM on your SGSD

1. Before proceeding further make sure you have root access and CWM recovery installed on your device, refer this link to know how to root and install CWM on SGSD. Also follow a quick check on below artifacts.

• Battery should be Charged above 70%
• Samsung device drivers should be installed on computer,if you don't have it download drivers here.
• Odin set up should be available for SGSD, get it here.

• Download the Baseband Rom image here.
• Download the latest version of Kyle Rom here.
• Place the Kyle Open ROM ".zip" file on your SD Card and make sure there is at least 2Gb free space available on your SD-Card.

1. Once you are sure that you have obtained root access and have CWM recovery working fine, switch off the phone boot into CWM recovery mode by  pressing key combination Volume Up + Volume down + Home + Power.
2. This will boot your device in CWM recovery mode, now browse for option "back up and restore", use volume rockers as touch screen doesn't work in recovery mode.Select the option by pressing home button and then get your device's existing ROM backed up by selecting option Backup.
3. Once the back up is completed successfully select the option "reboot device now" and let the phone reboot.
4. Now take back up of all your applications and personal data such as contacts, messages, call records etc. use the application super back up download it from play store 
5. If only you are sure that you have all back up you needed then proceed further cause you will lost all the data by following below procedure.
6. Though we can directly flash the Kyle ROM ".zip" file to upgrade SGSD  it is recommended to upgrade to this base band version (S7562XXBMD6 ) to make the Kyle Rom work for you and avoid any problems you may face if flashed on existing base band version.
7. In order to upgrade to base band version mentioned above, download the stock ROM for this base band, as you may already downloaded it if you have followed the above steps.
8. Now switch off your device, get into downloading mode by pressing key combination Volume down + Home + Power.
9. Once you are in download mode connect your device to computer using USB cable and open the Odin.exe downloaded above.
10. The Odin should reflect on of its COM port as yellow, which indicates that the device is connected to computer and intern to Odin successfully 
    
    
    
    
    
11. You can observe various options on Odin screen, make sure that F.reset time and Auto reboot and PDA are checked.
12. Now click on PDA and browse for the Stock ROM you downloaded above namely S7562XXBMD6_S7562OXXBME1_S7562XXBMD4_HOME.tar.md5         
13. Click on Start and wait for the process to complete your device will reboot automatically once 

        Odin shows the PASS indicator and  COM PORT turns Green.

How to root and upgrade Samsung Galaxy S duos GT-S7562

           Samsung Galaxy S duos is now very good budget smartphone, which also supports the dual SIM
functionality. But lots of user reported the performance of this device from Samsung is not at expected
though it has standard 1GHz ARM V5  processor and acclaimed 1 GB of RAM (which is actually 765Mb)
              People also reported few bugs like sudden discontinuity of packet data connection and, slag.

Well I myself own a Samsung galaxy S duos too and I have also faced these issues, but rather than regretting on
my design to purchase this handset I have found some procedures which can actually make this frustration vanish. Here it is all for you.

Rooting Samsung Galaxy S duos-GT-S7652:-

                         

                  In order to start upgrading you first need to make your device completely yours..:-)

It means you need to first root your device, If you are coming across this term first time then you 

better first read this.If you are aware of rooting you can proceed further and root your galaxy s duos

To Get started with rooting your device follow the steps below.

1. This is easiest procedure follow this link
2. If this doesn't work for you go on to next step
3. Download Root package for galaxy s duos  form here.
4. Extract the package on your desktop, you will get 5 files inside namely CWM- SuperSU.zip, CWM-Superuser.zip,odin.zip,recovery.tar,stock_recovery.tar
5. Once you have all these files on your computer you need Samsung USB Drivers, and USB data cable for connecting your device to computer.
6. If you cant find Samsung USB driver install them using kies or download here.
7. Once you have Samsung driver installed on your computer, Go to the settings menu on your device and then to developer options and then check enable USB debugging.
8. Now Copy the file CWM-Superuser.zip to your phones SD-Card, 
9. Switch off the phone. Now get your device in downloading mode using following key combination     press Volume Down + Home+ Power On keys simultaneously.
   
10. You should see following screen.
11. Press Volume Up key to continue booting into downloading mode
12. Once you have booted in downloading mode open the Odin.exe and connect the phone to USB cable.The COM port in ODIN should be turned yellow as shown in below screenshot.

13.  The yellow color indicates that your device is identified and connected. Now make sure that F. Reset Time is ticked.
Auto Reboot is ticked.
PDA is ticked.
All other boxes should be unticked.

14. Now click the PDA button and browse for the file recovery.tar you will find this file in Rooting package you extracted above.

15. Remove the back cover from your device before you follow the next step. This is required as you will need to remove the battery with a perfect timing, after you complete the next step.

16. Click on start. Let ODIN complete the flashing process. Don't interrupt the process. A green bar will tell you the progress of the operation. When the green box in Odin window shows "Pass", your phone will start a reboot.

17. It's time for you to jump into action. When the phone reboots, a vibration will signify that the phone has shut down completely, and is ready to boot up again. That's what we've to prevent. Just as the phone vibrates, remove the battery. We prevented the phone to boot again as this would've triggered the install-recovery.sh script to re install the stock recovery.(which we don't want!) You can disconnect your phone from the computer now.

18. Now boot into CWM recovery mode using key combination Volume Up + Volume Down + Home + Power.

If you cant see the CWM recovery you need to repeat the above procedure carefully this time.

19. Once you are booted in CWM recovery mode you can browse the option back up and restore using Volume Up and Down keys, select the option by  pressing Home key. 

20. Make sure you have min 2 GB space free on your Sd card. and then select the option backup, wait till CWM takes nandroid back up of your device so that at any point later in time you can restore your device to its previous stage.

21. Once back up is completed select the option Install zip from SD card and browse for the file CWM-Superuser.zip, select this file press home key browse through all No to locate and select option "Yes". and check the logs it will say " you have rooted your device successfully".

22.  Once finished. Selcet option  Reboot your device Now....and enjoy Now you are free to Install any custom ROM on your Samsung Galaxy S duos..

How to Root Samsung Galaxy Y duos GT-S6102

          After Samsung Galaxy Ace the second handset which has been recognized and accepted well by users is Samsung Galaxy Y, alike Samsung Galaxy Ace; Samsung  also launched a DUOS variant for Galaxy Y. In this tutorial we are going to discuss how to root this medium end device and upgrade it.

  I will not be liable for any resulting damage to your phone! Everything you do,  do at your own risk!

    Like all other Samsung Phone rooting procedure is same for this one too, only thing changes is the update.zip file.

 Follow the procedure, it also contains the procedure for CWM recovery

• Get the update.zip file from here and place it to SD-Card

• Get the CWM-S6102 file from here and place it too on SD-Card

• Ensure your device is charged at least above 70%

• Get your device in recovery mode by pressing the key combination (Vol down + Power +Home key)

• You will see an warning sign and asked to press Volume Up to continue or Volume Down to Reboot, Continue.. If you want to still root your phone.

• Once you are in Recovery Mode you will get few options,select apply update from SD-Card.

• Navigate to the update.zip file using volume rocker, and press home to select the file

• Once you got the message saying update successful, reboot device by selecting the reboot system now option

• After being successfully rebooted check for the super user icon,if you got it...cheers you've got root access.

• If you don't want CWM recovery you can skip below steps, but I suggest to have it and then get your existing ROM backed up so that later at any point of time you can revert back your device to its stock and stay rooted.

• Now get Back to recovery mode, and select the same option apply update from sd-card 

• Navigate to the CWM-S6102.zip file downloaded above, and select it by pressing home key.

• Once CWM recovery is installed you will directly get into CWM recovery mode, now you will see all new options,

• Select backup and restore and then select back-up, the current ROM will be backed up, wait for few minutes. Once the back up is complete, select the reboot system now option and you've done...

• Now you can install any other custom ROM or kernel enjoy...!! :-)

Upgrade your Samsung galaxy ace GT-S5830 to ICS with Myth ICS Custom Rom

Hi All SGA  users here is the opportunity for you guys to taste the glimpse of ICS on your SGA,
  Yes you are right, you can now actually enjoy few of the ICS features on your SGA.
 Follow through the instructions below to get your SGA upgraded to ICS

The Myth ICS currently have lots of versions but most basic and stable ones which I have used are
The Myth ICS beta Lite and The Myth V2
 This is the custom ROM and not released by the Samsung Electronics Corp.  So flashing this ROM will result in voiding your warranty.Also make sure you follow the steps correctly in case if you brick your phone, I will not be liable for damage caused to your phone.

Prerequisites:-

1.     To install this ROM on your SGA you must have first rooted your phone, you can check here how to root your SGA
2. Your SGA need to be on Gingerbread 2.3.* in case you are still running on earlier version of android then you can upgrade to latest Gingerbread version through kies.
3. Before you proceed further make sure you have nandroid  backup of your existing rom,you can take the back up of your existing ROM using CWM recovery.

Upgrading to ICS

1.    The first step is to have CWM recovery installed on your SGA, If you don't have CWM you can check the link in above section.
2. Once you have CWM on your SGA you need to choose the ICS ROM, download either The myth ICS Beta Lite or Myth V2 and place it on SD Card
3. Once you have this zip file on your SD Card reboot your SGA in recovery mode.To get into recovery mode switch off your device, then press the HOME + Power key simultaneously Once you are successfully booted in recovery you should see the screen above
4. Now select the option apply update from SD card and browse for  the ROM file.Use volume rocker keys to go up or down.
5. Select the ROM (Zip file you placed onto SD card in step 2). Press Home key to select
6. Navigate to Yes option using Volume rocker and select it by pressing Home key.
7. Now the installation of ROM will start,wait for some time and once you see the log as successfully installed the ROM reboot your device, using reboot system now option
8. Wait for phone to boot up, have patience First time boot may take 10 -15 min.
9.  After it opens, You can go to menu then open Tweak Manager and enable:
   
   •  VM Swapiness 
   
   
   •  DT: Auto Start 
    
   After u finish with Tweak manager, continue to open A2SDGUI.
   • Enable Swap and Zipalign.
   •  Open 2nd tab and select "sd-ext".
   Press Move and wait for your phone to reboot. It will reboot several times so plz wait :)

How to root and Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830

  Samsung galaxy ACE is the most versatile and famous android device ever made by Samsung, There is enough development done and still going on for this unique device.

 
                 In this tutorial you'll learn how to root your SGA and upgrade it to latest versions and various custom ROMS

If you want to upgrade to newer version than Gingerbread I suggest you to make full procedure, not only flash recovery.                Samsung galaxy ace available in market is running on Gingerbread. The tutorial below will work on Gingerbread running devices.
If any how you have a old version that is FROYO running on your SGA follow the below steps for rooting

Rooting Steps for SGA Running on FROYO 2.2.X
           
 You will need to follow few steps before you start

• Super On Click 2.3.3 Download it here
• Install SOC2.3.3 on your computer
• Turn on your SGA
• Enable USB debugging Go To settings->Applications->Development-> USB debugging

Now folow the steps below

1. Launch Super One Click 2.3.3
2. Click "Root"
3. Wait until the program is rooting your phone
4. When the process is completed turn off SOC and unplug your phone
5. Reboot
6. Now you have root! Verify by checking for newly installed super user app.

Rooting Steps for SGA Running on Gingerbread 2.3.X

1. Download the update file here and copy it to your sdcard
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press POWER+HOME BUTTON to get your device in Recovery mode
4. Select update from sdcard, select the file universal_gb_root_v25.zip
5. After the update completes select reboot system now

6.Now you have rooted S5830 Verify by checking for newly installed super user app.

                       As you have rooted SGA now you would like to try some custom ROMS for that you first need to have custom recovery
CWM which has far more options than Android stock recovery.
Flashing a custom recovery CWM
Below are the steps to update the stock recovery of your SGA to custom CWM recovery

1. Download custom recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace.zip  place the file into SD Card
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press POWER+HOME BUTTON to get your SGA in recovery mode
4. Select Update Zip From SD-Card option. [If you are on previous version of CWM recovery then you might need to select Install Zip From SD Card and then Choose Zip From SD Card Option simultaneously. ]
5. Select recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace.zip and flash it
6. Reboot your device.
7. Done ....!

Rooting using Odin

We have seen two options before for rooting android,If nothing works for your device this is the last option to go for root,The steps are same as above but the difference is you need not to do all these the Odin flasher tool will do it for you.          

    Download the ODIN set up an ops file for your device, install the set up on your computer and then make sure you have USB drivers for your device installed on your computer.            
    Put your device in downloading mode using key combination (Volume Down+Home+Power) and then Volume up to continue.   
    Now connect the device to computer with USB cable, and launch the ODIN locate the ops file for your device. As soon as you connect the device to computer the COM port in ODIN will be turned to yellow after successfull

detection of device in downloading mode.
    You just need to select the update.zip package as a PDA in odin and click on Start and wait for green pass signal.

I shall upload the detailed step by step images later.

Rooting using update.zip file

       In this method there is a executable update.zip file available which will do the work for us.There are different files for different handsets.In some cases it is advised to first change the stock recovery to custom recovery such as CWM recovery and then follow the rooting procedure. 

Below are the steps to be followed for rooting your android using update.zip file

1. First find and download the update.zip file for your device,check which CWM version supports your device here or you can get further information regarding CWM here
2. Save these files(CWM Recovery.zip and update.zip) on your sdcard.
3.Now disconnect your device from computer,if connected turn it off and follow the steps below to enter in recovery mode.
    a. Press volume up and volume down button together, also press home button, now you have three buttons pressed i.e volume up,volume down and home. Now start the phone holding power off button do not let it go till it vibrates and you see company logo, release the buttons. 
    b. And now you shall enter in recovery mode, on ICS,JB devices there comes an prompt asking to continue press volume up button.
    c. Press the volume up button and you shall get the device in recovery mode   There are lots of tutorial on you tube for geting your device in recovery mode
*Note:- The procedure to put your device in recovery mode may vary depending on the devices
4. Once you are in recovery mode select the option apply update from sd card, then choose zip from sd card   now to move to the location of file use volume rockers, as touchscreen and menu button doesn't work in recovery mode.Use home button to select action
5. Select the CWM.zip if you want to replace stock recovery with custom recovery or else you can directly select the update.zip file
6. Now install the zip, once done the success message will be displayed, reboot the system, If you want to install both zip files do not reboot,First install CWM recovery and then update.zip and finally reboot your device

7. Congratulations you just rooted your device and probably installed the custom recovery. To verify weather you got your device rooted or not check for superuser app in your phone.

 

How to root almost any android phone

    There are several methods of rooting an android phone we will discuss them.The easiest way to root your phone is using unlock-root, a ready available tool.It will work on most of the devices however some devices doesn't show any changes after rooting. The procedure is mentioned below step by step.

Before beginning the rooting guide, some prerequisites are required to be followed first.

 So make sure you respect all the instructions listed below:
    When you apply this root method you’re device’s warranty will be void because this operation isn’t an official operation. You can restore your device’s warranty if you do a downgrade to the stock ROM, or if you update on your device  official firmware, or the other way to restore your device’s warranty is that you can reset the flash counter if you’ll apply a UN-root method on your device.
    Backup all your important data which is stored in the internal memory storage on your smartphone or tablet, this backup have to be made before you begin the root guide. In order to save your important data you can back up your SMS, call logs history, Internet connection, your contacts, images, videos documents and all the data that you think are important for you as all the system might get wiped out.
  

  From the following path “Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging” enable the USB debugging option on your Android device.
    Verify if your battery has enough power left, and there the level of power need to be more than 70 % power left in the other ways you need to charge it. If you don’t have enough power in the battery‘s device then your device can take a forced shut down in the middle of the rooting process, and this thing can brick your device.
    You will use for the rooting procedure a Windows computer and the original device’s USB cable.
    Disable/deactivate the security applications which are running in your PC and Android device, programs like antivirus or firewall.

 What is ROM-It's essentially the operating system that your phone is currently running. It's like windows XP or windows 7 on your laptop. Windows itself is the operating system, as is any ROM on a phone.The key things about ROMS are how they can be customized (especially with android) to your hearts content. Let me explain;
A stock ROM is the ROM you get from the manufacturer. Say you buy a phone, you turn it on, the interface you look at, the settings you change, EVERYTHING is the ROM, and seeing as you haven't changed it, it's the 'stock' ROM, it's the one made by the manufacturer.
But with a custom ROM, you can take a phone you buy from outside and remove any limitations imposed by the manufacturer/network you got the phone from by installing a custom ROM someone else made. It can have any number of changes from the stock ROM, from just looking a bit different and being a bit smoother to completely overhauling your phone and making it feel like a brand new machine.

processes, The general term for this is overclocking your CPU, there are some predefined criteria for that as everything has some limitations , meaning that you can't expect a 800 MHz processor to
be overclocked at 2 GHz... common that's too demanding..But you can overclock it to 1 GHz, a 1GHz processor to 1.3GHz or 1.6 GHz and believe me it works superfine.
The amount of Overclocking you can expect from a processor basically depends on the chip-set that processor is using and may more facts to be considered.

UI and Battery Improvements

It Voids Warranty
     Rooting your android voids your warranty provided by manufacturer, In some cases you can get it back by installing stock rom,
The clear disadvantage is that your device is under warranty period and if by any chance you got a hardware problem like camera,audio outlet,charger pin or loudspeaker not functioning
properly you cant get it fixed from service center till you get your phone running on stock ROM again.

Bricking
     Sometimes if you don't follow the rooting guide properly you can exhibit a situation where your device undergoes a Brick
there are two types of bricks Software brick and Hardware Brick a software brick can be cured easily by using some predefined and standard procedures,
whereas Hardware brick may result in malfunctioning or sometimes totally non functioning. Still there are some techno-geeks who managed to cure devices from hardware brick. The easiest way to identify a software brick is that your device boots but doesn't show up the UI or boots in loop and if it doesn't boot at allthen it is hardware brick and you need to purchase a new device.
